Sea

The boat began to roll from side to side and the temperature dipped all of a sudden. Dark clouds obscured the moon and they churned grimly in the night sky. A winnowing wind fermented and sighed, rippling the surface of the corpse calm sea. Jack’s boat heaved and tossed in the rising swell and he gripped the tiller with his naked fingers. The wind slammed the rain into his face like tiny stones and pushed his hood back. The ship pressed, first up waves at forty-five degrees, and then crashed down jarring his bones. Jack could barely make out a figure at the end of his boat. He called out, but his words were caught in his throat. He pushed his way to the front of the boat. Hiding behind a crate he noticed a large whale and shark like figure chomping away at his apples.
