A Monster Come

Night was dark and the outcome clear,
Shadows grew as end came near.
A monster tall as day to night,
Preys on kids and adults alike.
Thousand fangs, grotesque tail,
Sloughing skin filled with scales.
Endless claws with sharp barbed ends,
Stabbed and hooked and pulled right in.
Expect no escape from evils grasp,
Prepare to die and breathe your last.
Fear no evil, embrace no sin,
A heart of darkness within all men.

Not all is lost at hallow’s end,
The souls it reaps will live again.
Send the gathered, a breath of ash,
Seek the damned, and pull them back.
Voices stolen never to speak,
Feel burning breath across your cheek.
The kiss of death to seal the deal,
A rush of cold bites as you keel.
Care to dream of softer nights,
Where family embrace by candlelight.
Brighter days, drifting thought,
Careless love and endless fraught.
Sun rise calls in dazzling display,
Opportunity arises alongside day.
Remember the monster’s found within,
Keep light close and never give in.
