Connection (Covid 19)

Connection (Covid 19)

by: Tavia Brooke

When our streets are empty
It’s easy to have an empty heart
When your physical circle
That you can feel
And touch
Is so small
Your heart feels small too

When our streets are empty
The beginning of the pandemic
All around the world
All seems silent

There is no sound of echoing voices
In the school halls
There is no sound of clanking of utensils
In restaurants
There is no sound of children laughing
On park playgrounds

But there is hope
There is a spiritual warmth
That takes effort to see
It is mirrored across miles
Connecting us all around the world
We are all fighting against a common enemy
The virus

Our technology devices
What used to divide our world
Is one of the only things connecting us

Our hearts ache for connection
Now that it seems like we have it less
But it’s not gone
It’s just different
Changed

The universe is saying
Through our spiritual connections
It’s time to rest
Be at peace
And bloom again
For when you do
If we all work together
Let’s hope
To be a better nation
