Sunsets
by: Ashlyn Irwin
When You’re stuck,
Stuck in the place I am,
Of course you’d want to be Somewhere else.
Your heart torn between this and that,
Your soul cracking in heartbreak
Having to choose one or the other.
I want to crawl,
Crawl out of the box they’ve put me in,
Into my own
Where nobody can hurt me.
Where nobody can know me.
Where nobody can love me.
There’s nothing wrong
with wanting it to be that way,
But sometimes
With the maturity,
The maturity not to
count your chickens before they hatch.
The kindness
To give To a beggar
The hope
That you may see A rainbow
It’s colors displayed across the sky
Clouds nowhere in sight.
The true beauty,
Of a horizon spread across the land
Bidding the Sun farewell in an exchange of colors,
Within the reds and oranges,
Yellows too,
Fading into a beautiful night time sky,
Maybe,
Just maybe,
If you find yourself,
You’ll never want to be alone again.
And maybe,
Just maybe,
You will find the place you are,
To be your home.
